Books are the perfect way to spend time with your little! Just reading with them opens up space for conversation in so many ways. The school teacher side of me wants to tell you that those chats can be simple like counting the number of something on a page, working together to recount the events of a story in order, or it can go deeper as you discuss more open-ended questions. The yoga teacher side of me wants you to know that it also opens the gate for songs, movement, breathing, and so much fun!
I have a babe of my own these days and in an effort to make reading more mindful, purposeful, and FUN for my family and yours, I will be sharing a handful of books seasonally (or maybe more often). With each book suggestion, I will give you ideas for creating space for conversation, music, breathing, yoga and movement. We're kicking it off with FIVE books for this limbo in between winter and spring.
The Mitten adapted and retold by Jan Brett
Yoga Bunny by Brian Russo
I Am One by Susan Verde
Think Big, Little One by Vashti Harrison
The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle
Stay tuned on Facebook, Instagram, or just check the blog as I will be posting the ideas for each of these books over the next week!
